Team Itinerary

Many of you have asked for our itinerary, so here it is! We would covet your prayers during our travel and trip. I know God has prepared this team to be HIS hands and feet! We're READY TO GO!

Friday, March 9:

Our journey begins! KCI-Chicago; Chicago-Frankfurt; Frankfurt to Addis Ababa!

Saturday, March 10:

We’ll arrive at 9pm in Addis and head to the Ethiopia Guest Home!

Sunday, March 11:

Church at Beza International Church-YEAH! That afternoon we’ll visit the Soccer/Street Ministry, and hang with kids. We plan to stay there as long as they’ll let us! Evening devotion/group meeting that night. We will also head to Fantu, a type of “Wal Mart” where you can get snacks if you like. Cookies, crackers, etc...

Monday, March 12:

Be ready at 8:30 a.m. Kind Hearts day!! We will hand out the sponsor/goodie bags for the kids, coordinate the teacher mentoring time, hang out with the kids/story time--and see where our clean water well is!!

Tuesday, March 13:

Be ready at 8:30 a.m. Kind Hearts day! Today we will hand out the shoes purchased for the children, which could take the majority of the day! We will also have time for stories/activities. After our group meeting/devotion, we plan on heading to Makush, an Ethiopian Art Gallery for dinner. This place is AMAZING! True Ethiopian art, and yummy Italian food. I even remember what I ate their last year--Blue Cheese Pasta. Lots of fun!

Wednesday, March 14:

Young Life Day! I’m not sure what time our day will start, but we most likely will have two options: shopping or a quick trip to the Entoto Mountain area. That afternoon we will split into three groups and head to visit Young Life kids in their homes and neighborhoods. At 3:30, Young Life club starts. They have thousands that come through every week, so I think this will be a BLAST! I’m super excited to show them our “I AM YOUNG LIFE ETHIOPIA” shirts and hand out the bibles we purchased for them. We’ll get to spend some time afterwards with Ethiopian teenagers!

Thursday, March 15:

Be ready at 8:30 a.m. for Trees of Glory day! We’ll hand out sponsor bags, talk to teachers, share our stories, sing songs, etc...remember it’s a 2 hour drive. That night after group meeting/devotion we will head to Yo! Abyssinia, a traditional Ethiopian Restaurant with the coolest dancers you’ve ever seen. Watch your moves, or you WILL be pulled up on stage! We love this place! (FYI...might want to eat beforehand...most do not like the food...just ask Taylor about the goat stomach he ended up eating last year!)

Friday, March 16:

I’d like to take the group to Layla House, but need to check with the local office while we’re in Ethiopia to make sure this is OK. Since last year, they have let go of most of the American staff we used to work with. This will also be the basketball day for the guys with Henok. We’ll also go shopping again before attending one more Young Life club that afternoon. We’ll then begin packing and getting ready to head home. We will leave for the airport after supper around 8pm. It usually takes a while to exchange money into dollars and check totes back, etc. Our flight leaves around 11pm, and in Ethiopia, you go through 3 safety checkpoints before you board the flight!

Saturday, March 17:

Arrive in Chicago! Our flight to KCI lands that afternoon at 4:30 p.m!
